In 2013, Tesco Ireland became founding partner of FoodCloud, a social enterprise that connects businesses that have surplus food with those in our communities who need that food most.
Following the success of an initial trial run in their Talbot Street store, Tesco became the first retailer to roll out a surplus food donations programme across all of their stores nationwide.
To date, they have donated over 4 million meals to more than 260 local groups, like the Linx Centre in Ballymun, as well as soup kitchens, children’s breakfast clubs, elderly support groups and many more.
Now you can help make a difference too. If you know a cause that you think could benefit from being involved in Tesco’s surplus food donations programme, you can suggest them online by visiting www.tesco.ie/NoTimeForWaste
At the end of the day no one likes to throw out perfectly good food, especially when so many in our communities go without and that’s why at Tesco theyhave no time for waste.
