'The Lost Children Of Tuam' has been named Best Irish Film at this year's Galway Film Fleadh.
The film directed by Frank Berry and written by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, had it's world premiere at the festival on Saturday.
The film tells the story historian Catherine Corles and her investigation into the former mother and baby home in Tuam, County Galway.
Corles discovered death certificates of 796 children who died at the institution between 1925 and 1961.
Liam Neeson, Chelsea Morgan Hoffmann, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Martina Niland and Jules Daly served as producers on the film and said they were honoured by the film's warm reception and looked forward to continuing to bring Corless's remarkable story to audiences, according a recent RTE report.
The Lost Children of Tuam is scheduled for release in Irish cinemas this autumn through Volta Pictures.
Elsewhere at the Galway Film Fleadh, Learning to Breathe Underwater won the Audience Award, You'll Never Believe Who's Dead received the Best Irish First Feature award, and Try! shared the Best Irish Feature Documentary prize with The S.U.
Across the six days of the festival, thousands of attendees viewed screenings, premieres, masterclasses, panel discussions and networking events.
Speaking on this years event, festival Director Miriam Allen said: “The response to this year’s Galway Film Fleadh has been extraordinary. We experienced record attendances across both the festival and the Galway Film Fair, with audiences embracing Irish and international cinema in remarkable numbers."
