A man in his 60s has been hospitalised after being injured in a shooting at a house in Co Limerick.
The incident occurred on Hyde Road in Limerick city at approximately 4.30pm on Sunday.
Gardaí believe two masked men, armed with firearms and travelling on bicycles, fired several shots from outside the property before fleeing the scene.
The victim is understood to have sustained gunshot wounds to the chest. He was treated at the scene before being transported to University Hospital Limerick for further medical care.
Investigators are examining whether the shooting is connected to an ongoing feud between two rival organised crime groups operating on the south side of Limerick city.
The area around the house has been sealed off to allow for a forensic and technical examination, while Gardaí continue their investigation into the attack.
No arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing.
