Scattered showers are expected across Ireland today and Friday, before conditions become largely dry and brighter over the weekend, according to Met Éireann.

Thursday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with some of the showers potentially becoming heavy at times, particularly in eastern areas. Temperatures will reach between 15 and 20 degrees, with moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Overnight, clear periods will develop alongside further scattered showers, mainly affecting northern and western parts of the country. Temperatures will fall to between 7 and 11 degrees, with light to moderate northwesterly winds.

Showery conditions will continue into Friday, initially focused on the north and west before spreading more widely during the day. Despite the unsettled spells, most areas will also see some sunshine. Temperatures are forecast to peak between 14 and 19 degrees, with light to moderate northerly winds.

The weather is expected to improve significantly on Saturday, with most areas remaining dry and enjoying sunny spells. Temperatures will range from 15 to 19 degrees, while winds will be light and variable.

Sunday is also set to bring generally dry and bright conditions. Mist and fog may linger in places during the morning before gradually clearing, with only isolated showers expected later. Temperatures will again reach between 15 and 19 degrees, accompanied by light and variable winds.

Overall, the weekend is expected to offer a welcome break from the more unsettled conditions forecast for the remainder of the working week.
