It has been revealed that 7 in 10 young adults have considered leaving Ireland for a better quality of life.
New research from the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) found that 68% of 18-24 are considering moving abroad.
The concern of housing and affordability has remained consistent over the past few years.
In addition to living costs, anxiety over employment prospects is mounting year-on-year. The report highlights that an overwhelming 90% of young adults now believe securing stable, long-term work is becoming increasingly difficult in Ireland.
A vast majority of young people in Ireland feel pushed to the margins by the ongoing cost-of-living and housing crises, with only 17% believing the Government is doing enough to support them.
According to recent data, nearly nine in ten young adults (89%) feel the severe lack of affordable housing disproportionately impacts their generation, alongside widespread financial strain, high transport expenses, and deteriorating mental health.
Over seven in ten respondents fear artificial intelligence will make securing stable employment even harder over the next five years, driving strong public demand for action, with 83% calling for stricter government regulation on AI.
Speaking on the study, Grace McManus, Policy and Campaigns Manager at NYCI said via RTE: "These findings should serve as a wake-up call. Too many young people feel that the chance to build a secure and independent life is slipping out of reach."
