BPerfect Cosmetics' Christmas ad has reduced us to tears, with beauty lovers challenging Coca-Cola and John Lewis to do better than this.
The ad, titled The Gift of Acceptance, shows a young boy in his room, practicing makeup techniques with the door closed. He has his earphones in, so he's unaware that his dad has entered the room.
His dad is visually shocked that his son has been concealing (pardon the pun) this side of himself, and when he's spotted in the mirror, he quickly shuts the door, leaving his son feeling embarrassed and caught out.

It doesn't look like it's been spoken about since, but fast forward to Christmas morning, and his sister and mum are all excited, opening their cosmetics sets, while he's underwhelmed by a pair of underwear.
Next thing, his dad offers him a wrapped gift to open, and lo and behold, it's a cosmetics set all of his own — the ultimate gift of acceptance, which has made us nothing but emotional.
The son excitedly legs it up to his bedroom, leaving the door open this time, and fixes himself up in a full face of makeup. He's finally comfortable enough to sport makeup around his family, and even shows off his new lipstick shade to his granny. Tell us that wouldn't make the eyes water!

BPerfect Cosmetics wrote: 'This year’s reminder that sometimes the greatest gifts in life can’t be wrapped. A story about finding the courage to show the world who you really are, and discovering that the people who love you never needed you to be anything else.
'Because sometimes, the greatest gift is simply being accepted for who you are.'
The beauty brand's Christmas ad has gained a huge amount of traction online, with many beauty lovers flocking to the comments section to praise the message behind the ad and the creative team.

'Yeah... I cried. For younger me, and for the millions of boys and girls, past and present, who grew up feeling confined by outdated gender stereotypes... Thank you,' one TikTok user commented.
'Good luck, John Lewis, beating this,' someone else wrote, as a third said: 'You've smashed it out of the park with this!! Move over Coca-Cola and WH Smith Christmas adverts — this is the 2026 winner.'
Over on Instagram, another beauty lover commented: 'At the age of 43 now, I smile deeply with pride at this and at my younger self that has always loved makeup even when I couldn’t share that fact back then. Beautifully done.'
