Mariah Carey looks set to finally release her secret scrapped '90s grunge album.

While this album was never shared to the public domain, Mariah Carey did reveal that the vocals came from “my friend Clarissa”, and that her own vocals were more of “a hidden layer”. The identity of this album has been known about since 2020, after Carey revealed in her memoir, The Making Of Mariah Carey,  that she had had worked on an alternative rock album in the 1990s.

The album is called, 'Someone's Ugly Daughter' and was originally made in 1995 with the band, Chick.

Last week, the singer had spoken to SZA about the album, where she described the cover artwork and a song on the tracklist which was seemingly called, 'Hermit'.

She has since appeared on Fallon, where she said that she has looked into what would be required for this album to arrive.

Explaining the scrawled writing on the back of the album in lipstick, Carey said:  “I don’t know which record label this is owned by. I don’t think it’s any of them because it’s just the way that it went down. But let’s discuss…”.

At this point, Fallon joked that she should find the album and release it in time for Christmas.

“I always regretted not putting it out, but they kind of stopped me at that point,” Carey responded. “It was Sony at the time. We love Sony now, but back then…a little controlling, a little controlling".

In other news, Carey  admitted that she is not a fan of other artists covering her songs. More on this here.
