50,000 people are expected to depart today.

Huge lines have formed at check-in, bag drop and security following long delays at security in recent weeks and months due to staffing issues at the airport.

Labour Party transport spokesperson, Duncan Smith, says the situation is out of control. “We didn’t think it could get any worse than it has been over the last couple of weeks but today seems to have broken new ground with many people missing flights and absolute chaos throughout the terminal buildings. I have had reports in myself this morning. One friend was on a plane that was able to wait to allow people to get onto the plane. Others have missed their plane altogether. It is an absolute catastrophe.”
