A 30-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Caoimhe Morgan in Belfast last week.

The body of the 30-year-old mother of four was discovered in a house on the North side of Belfast on Saturday.

Taylor McIlvenna, of Greyabbey Road in Ballywalter, Co Down, appeared via video link at Belfast Magistrates Court, where he was charged with murder and two counts of criminal damage.

McIlvenna remained silent, only speaking to answer "yes" when he was asked to clarify if he understood the charges brought against him.

No details of McIlvenna's crime have been released but a PSNI detective told the court she had evidence that connected him to the offence.

McIlvenna has been remanded in custody with no application for bail having been made. He will appear via video link before the court again on January 19th.

"The local community is deeply shocked to learn of the suspected murder of a woman," the SDLP's Nichola Mallon said upon the discovery of Morgan's body. "My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this extremely distressing time as they cope with the worst news any of us can imagine."
