A previously unreleased NFT of a Whitney Houston demo went to auction on Tuesday (December 14) where it sold for over $1 million.

Rolling Stone reported that the NFT features a recording titled “One Of One”, a demo Houston recorded when she was just 17 years old. The demo was auctioned off alongside a series of other NFTs including images and videos of the singer, all of which sold for $1.1 million.

The highest bidder also received a digital video created by 17-year-old artist Diana Sinclair, reported Fox 5 News, who said that the project helped to bring Houston’s legacy into the modern era.

“I’m excited to see Whitney’s legacy and her wonderful music expand into the bold new technology of this era,” Pat Houston, executor of Houston's estate, told Rolling Stone. “It was a joy partnering with 17-year-old Diana Sinclair and watching the artistry of Whitney’s music influence a new generation.”

Proceeds from the auction will go to the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to aid young people by creating opportunities for success and empowerment.
