A new biopic on the late Michael Jackson is in the works.

It has also been reported that Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King is said to join the team to produce this biopic. The screenplay for the film is to be written by John Logan. Logan has also previously worked with King on Martin Scorsese's 2004 film The Aviator.

The biopic which has been titled Michael, has been approved by the late King of Pop's Estate. Co executives for the estate John McClain and John Branca will also co-produce the biopic alongside Graham King.

A press release for the film has stated, “Michael will give audiences an in-depth portrayal of the complicated man who became the King of Pop. It will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life".

“I’m humbled to bring their legacy to the big screen", Graham King said of the film. “Sitting at Dodger Stadium watching the Victory Tour, I could never have imagined that nearly 38 years later I would get the privilege to be a part of this film".

Michael Jackson's mother Katherine added,  “Ever since Michael was little, as a member of The Jackson 5 he loved the magic of cinema. As a family, we are honoured to have our life story come alive on the big screen".

The involvement of Jackson's estate in the film would appear to suggest that the allegations of sexual abuse that were made against the late singer during his career and following his death in 2009 will not be explored in the biopic.
