Singer Nicki Minaj has been heavily criticised for not attending the Met Gala Event because of the Covid-19 vaccine requirement.

Taking to Twitter, the Anaconda singer's explanation posted online drew huge criticism from fans.

"They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met", she wrote. "It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now".

"In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one".

Minaj's last public appearance was over a year ago.

On this, the singer who gave birth to a baby son in September 2020, also said, "I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself".

"Your own research?"

The singer's comments received severe flack from fans online.

"Your own research?", one wrote. "Do you have a team of scientists running clinical trials out of a spare bedroom?".

While another disgruntled viewer wrote this. "Over 1 billion people have safely taken the vaccine,  I got vaccinated in March. I got COVID 3 weeks ago. It felt like a cold and I was sick for only 3 days, if that. I'm back up and running with no adverse effects. What more research do you need?".

Other people have praised Minaj's comments. They wrote, "Your safety, health, peace, and family come first. This is such a wild, unpredictable time in the world, Nic. This is real life. Prayers & positive, healing energy being sent up and out for you and your family. I don’t leave my home unless I must. Stay safe beautiful Nic. Love u".

Minaj did state that she will probably get vaccinated to go on tour.

"I’m sure I’ll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc", she said.
