Rebel Wilson has revealed that her recent weight loss journey came as part of an effort to increase her chances of getting pregnant after the age of 40.
The actress, 41, has shed a remarkable 4.5 stone over the last few years after adopting a major health drive.
She has recently revealed that the weight loss has been largely motivated by her doctor's advice that "doing so would enhance her egg quality".
The Pitch Perfect star shared the update on Instagram Live: "When I was going through and looking into fertility stuff, the doctor was like, 'Well, you'd have a much better chance if you were healthier.
"I was actually a bit offended. I thought that even though I was bigger, I was pretty healthy.
"So that's what started it—that if I lost some excess weight, it would give me a better chance of freezing eggs and having better quality eggs."
Wilson made the decision to adopt a healthier lifestyle after discovering that an increased BMI could potentially dash her pregnancy hopes.
She said: "At first it wasn't even for myself, it was thinking of a future mini-me and their quality. That's what kick-started it."
The star previously told InStyle: "Now that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didn’t do it earlier.
“Maybe I should have tried when I was 30, not 40. But everybody’s journey is different, and it’s not a race or competition.”
After adopting a new diet and grueling fitness routine, Wilson reached her goal weight of 11.7 stone (165lbs) at the end of last year.
Wilson kick-started her journey at an Austrian wellness centre where sugar, alcohol, and caffeine are off limits, dinner is frowned upon, and members are required to chew every mouthful of food 40 times.
Despite her weight loss, however, Wilson still enjoys the odd treat.
On Valentine's Day, the actress posted a picture of herself with a donut, teasing "the only ring I'll see this Valentine's Day".
Shortly after she described herself as "single" after splitting from boyfriend and brewery heir Jacob Busch, 29.
