Tributes Paid To Goodfellas Star Paul Sorvino Who Died Aged 83

Actor Paul Sorvino who was renowned for his roles in classic crime film Goodfellas and TV show Law & Order, has died at the age of 83.

This news was confirmed by the actor's publcist to the PA news agency. 

Sorvino's wife Dee Dee was by the actor's side when he died on Monday.

"Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life, and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage", Sorvino's publicist Roger Neal said on behalf of Mrs Sorvino. 

She also tweeted this. 

Sorvino's daughter Mira also paid a glowing tribute to her father. 

"My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed", she wrote. "My heart is rent asunder, a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over. He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I'm sending you love in the stars dad as you ascend". 

Alongside stars Robert Di Nero and Ray Liotta, Sorvino starred as Paul Cicero in highly acclaimed crime classic, Goodfellas. 

On top of this, Sorvino also portrayed the role of Sergeant Phil Cerreta in Law & Order. 

Sorvino also had roles in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet, The Firm, The Gambler, The Rocketeer, and Oliver Stone's Nixon, throughout an acting career lasting decades.

Sorvino's co star Ralph Macchio paid tribute to his Lost Cat Corona co star, calling him “one of the truest and honest actors I had had the pleasure of working with and getting to know". 

Dianne Warren also added, “Ray Liotta, James Caan and now Paul Sorvino, we can be pretty sure there’s a badass Goodfellas/Godfather mashup movie being made in Heaven right now!”.
