Alec Baldwin has had his say on the Oscars showdown between Chris Rock and Will Smith.

The showdown saw Will Smith slap Chris Rock in the face, after the comedian joked about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith being bald.

Rock joked that he was looking forward to seeing Jada Pinkett-Smith star in the next GI Jane movie. After Smith slapped him, he could be heard shouting "get my wife's name out of your f*****g mouth".

"sorry the Oscars turned into the Jerry Springer Show"

According to Metro, Alec Baldwin tweeted, “I’m not reading much about how, or even if, the producers attended to Chris. But I love you, Chris Rock".

“I’m sorry the Oscars turned into The Jerry Springer Show,” comparing the event to the ’90s tabloid talk show hosted by Springer", Baldwin also added.

Smith later apologised to Rock. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness", he said.
