Holding back tears as she gave evidence at court, Amber Heard has claimed that her former spouse Johnny Depp slapped her across the face during their marriage.

Heard made this revelation in court after Johnny Depp filed a lawsuit against his ex wife regarding an article published in the Washington Post in 2018. While it fails to mention Depp by name, the piece which was written by Heard alleges that Johnny Depp violently and sexually abused her during their marriage.

Depp has always denied striking Ms Heard, claiming that his ex wife was the abuser in their relationship.

He also said that these allegations have cost him "everything", saying that they put the production of Pirates of the Carribean on hold, while Disney also informed him that he would be asked to resign from his role in the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, with Mads Mikkelsen replacing him in the role of Grindelwald.

“the most painful and difficult thing I’ve ever gone through”

Amber Heard told the courtroom that reliving her relationship with Mr Depp was “the most painful and difficult thing I’ve ever gone through”.

Calling it “a beautiful and strange time”, Heard said that she had "fallen head over heals in love" with Depp.

Heard claimed that this relationship turned sour after her ex husband slapped her in the face, after she jokingly mocked the writing of one of his tattoos. After she asked him about the writing of one of his tattoos, Depp replied "wino", which Heard laughed.

It was at this point that Heard claimed Depp slapped her across the face.

“He slapped me across the face", Heard told the court through a web of tears. “I didn’t know what was going on. I just stared at him”. She also claimed that Depp slapped her twice more, claiming that he also shouted “you think it’s funny, b****?”.

The actress added that she agreed to stay with her husband after he apologised and agreed to never be violent towards her again, saying that he would “rather cut my hand off than lay it on you”.

“I didn’t want to leave him. I didn’t want this to be the reality”, she said.

Amber Heard also alleged that Johnny Depp was verbally abusive towards her too, accusing her of infidelity, stating that “it would escalate to the point where he would push me or shove me down”.

“This happened several times”, she added.

The trial continues.
