The iconic, magical platform in the introductory film to the Harry Potter film franchise is travelling across Ireland and the UK to celebrate 20 years since the film's release.

Great news today as it has been announced that the magical, Harry Potter Platform 9 ¾ Trolley tour is coming to Ireland this week. This special addition has arrived to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone releasing in cinemas.

With this new installation, wizards in training now have the chance to recreate a magical moment from the original film.

Harry first made it on to Platform 9 ¾ by running through a magical brick wall in London’s King’s Cross station. The film’s protagonist had to journey through the magical doorway, before taking the 11am train to Hogwarts, which it did every year on September 1st.

Symbolising the gateway between the ‘Muggle’, and the wizarding world, the trolley is located on the concourse of King’s Cross Station. Residing alongside the Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 ¾, the attraction is visited by over two million people per annum.

The London attraction has served as a symbol of the Harry Potter legacy for the last two decades. However, cities across Ireland and the UK can now enjoy the experience as it travels up and down the countries.

The replica trolley is set to tour five locations across Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales, in celebration of the milestone anniversary. Aspiring wizards, witches, and muggles alike have the chance to have a photo of themselves appearing to run through the wall to Platform 9 ¾, where Hogwarts Express departs.

Having started on October 16th, the trolley tour landed in Edinburgh Waverley Station, before moving on to Birmingham New Street on October 23rd. Currently situated at Cardiff Central Station until October 28th, the tour will next visit Belfast Lanyon Place Station on October 29th, before arriving at Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin on November 5th – where it will stay until the 7th.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be returning to UK and Irish cinemas on October 29th. To coincide with the arrival of the Platform 9 ¾ Trolley, Movies @ Dundrum cinema will host additional, special screenings of all the Harry Potter films across the weekend of November 6th and 7th.

The official 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be celebrated on the November 16th, 2021.
