In response to the country's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, major Hollywood film companies including The Walt Disney, Warner Bros and Sony Pictures have suspended filming movies in Russia.

This decision was made by the film companies yesterday, as violence continues rage across the country, with thousands of residents forced to flee to the borders.

Warner Bros announced the suspension of filming of the movie The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, with a spokesperson stating, "In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia".

"We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy".

In light of this ongoing situation with Russia and Ukraine, Sony Pictures have also suspended production of their upcoming film, Morbius

"Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius", their spokesperson said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted and hope this crisis will be resolved quickly".

Describing the invasion as "unprovoked", Disney announced the halting of upcoming films. They also stated that they will work with its NGO partners in order to provide "urgent aid and other humanitarian assistance" to refugees.

A spokesperson said, "Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing the theatrical release of films in Russia, including the upcoming Turning Red from Pixar".

"We will make future business decisions based on the evolving situation", they added. "In the meantime, given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis, we are working with our NGO partners to provide urgent aid and other humanitarian assistance to refugees".
