WhatsApp Back Working After Users Report Earlier Outage

WhatsApp is now reportedly back in business, after tens of thousands of UK users of the service reported a major outage earlier today.

It had been revealed earlier by Downdetector that just over 69,000 reports of problems with accessing WhatsApp were submitted by 8-30am this morning. Most users were complaining about being unable to open their conversations on the messaging service, or send messages.

“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages, and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible”, a spokesperson for Meta previously said. 

However, the site began to show signs of a recovery as the tally dropped to 30,000 reports by 9-30am. The app was back up an running by 10am, according to reports.

Downdetector also revealed that 11,000 users in India had complained over the site, with 19,000 emanating from Signapore.

Most people vented their frustrations via Twitter, with most adding the hashtag #Whatsappdown alongside their tweets. Over 70,000 users had reportedly tweeted about the issue.
