Finally….someone has come up an ingenious idea – flexible working for parents who want to get back into the workforce but can’t commit to the usual 9-5 due to lack of childcare, the logistics of school drop-offs and pick-ups, geographic location and the obvious…..wanting to be at home rearing your kids.
Just because you want to rear your kids, it doesn’t mean you have to give up your professional skills. Karen O’Reilly from Clonakilty, Co.Cork has just launched www.employmum.ie, a new recruitment agency that offers flexible working to employees and employers.
You may have a couple of hours free in between the school run, or maybe you are available for short-term project work? This can be ideal for employers too who may not have the office space or the budget to employ someone on a full-time permanent basis but have paid work available for busy periods – perhaps working on projects or 10-15 hours a week from home. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Karen came up with the idea after meeting so many highly skilled professional parents at the school gate who were worried about having a big gap on their C.V. as they stayed at home with their small children. Many of these parents needed to get earning again but couldn’t commit to an employer full-time due to school holidays being just around the corner……..and so the business was born.
