Holiday’s are good for our health for so many reasons but if you’ve ever been on a plane you will notice that your skin doesn’t take kindly to it, there are many ways in which we can keep it happy and healthy.
Here are our top five tips to start your holiday off with happy skin.
- Remove your make-up
It has often been recommended that we should remove any make-up from our face before stepping onto a plane, but unfortunately many of us feel the need to have something on our faces. If you can’t bear to go completely clean faced we suggest using a tinted moisturiser or CC cream to give you very slight coverage and give your skin the breathing room it requires.
When on a long haul flight it can sometimes be difficult to fill your time…movie, books, music but here is something you can do for your skin without having to leave your seat. Give your face a cleansing, there are many types, from wipes to cleansing creams, depending on how brave you are feeling I have recently stumbled upon what I’m told is a miracle worker, by the name of miscellar waters, which don’t require having to be rinsed off, just gently use a cotton wool pad to remove any excess grime.
There is one great way to hydrate your skin and that is to drink plenty of water, but people tend to drink less on a flight because many of us can’t bear the thoughts of using the loos on the plane. If you happen to be one of these you can use a moisture bomb, it may require a quick trip to the sink to remove it but it’ll be well worth it on a longer flight, you can also spray a little rose water which will keep your skin healthy and smelling lovely.
The under eye area is the only area in the body that doesn’t make its own water. It’s also a very thin layer of skin so needs to be treated with care. When you are on a flight for a long period of time your poor under eyes will become very dry. Apply a light layer of eye cream, without SPF using your ring finger, gently patting it under your eye area to reduce dryness and puffiness.
Finally, our poor hair tends to get a little forgotten about and damaged while we are running around and just sticking it up in bobbins, you can give it a little treat even before stepping off the flight, apply a small amount of scented oil onto your hair, it’ll not only nourish it but will also give your hair a lovely scent for when you step off that plane.
