Netflix suggestions to pass the time at home

You are viewing content from Ireland's Classic Hits Radio Galway. Would you like to make this your preferred location?

With over 147 million households opting to watch at least one documentary on Netflix in the last year, we’ve come up with a few suggestion that might pass the time for you as we stay home and stay safe during Covid-19

THE PHARMACIST: A small-town pharmacist, Dan Schneider, goes on the hunt for his son’s murderer.  Dan’s son Danny was addicted to crack cocaine and when he was murdered, the police didn’t want to know.  His father wasn’t going to let his son’s killer away with it so proceeded with his own investigation.  In his day job as a pharmacist, he noticed the huge amount of young people coming in with Opioid prescriptions and realized there may be a connection

You’ve probably seen plenty of “Tiger King” memes recently so what is it all about.  TIGER KING: MURDER, MAYHEM AND MADNESS:  This one is stranger than fiction entering the world of big cat owners including Joe Exotic and his mullet.  If he was a bar of chocolate, he’d eat himself.  His acquaintances include drug kingpins and a very obedient wife.  When an animal activist tries to close his roadside zoo, he is arrested for plotting to have her murdered.

CRIP CAMP: A DISABILITY REVOLUTION: has a couple of well-known Executive Producers in Barack and Michelle Obama despite the fairly offensive title.  This is about a summer camp for teenagers with disabilities that helps transform their lives

TRIAL BY MEDIA (Available from May 11):  Trial by media has almost become an entertainment form for some people. This documentary looks at some of the most memorable trials over 6 parts.  It also looks at the way the press can change the public’s mind about whether someone is guilty or innocent.

LENNOX HILL (Available from June 10th):  During this Covid-19 crisis, you’ve probably wondered how on earth doctors and nurses do their jobs, never knowing what will happen during their shift, little or no breaks, stressed, tired and on their feet all day.  Lennox Hill won’t be out until June 10th but stick it in your calendar all the same.  We get an intimate look inside the lives of 4 doctors (in America).  There are 2 brain surgeons, an A&E doctor and a Chief Resident OBGYN working at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City.  It shows the struggle to balance their personal and professional lives.

So a few suggestions to keep you occupied and remember, stay home!
