Walk-in vaccination centres are to resume operations in Cork this coming weekend.

Across the country, walk-in vaccination centres operated on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the bank holiday weekend. Over 30,000 people availed of the opportunity to receive a first shot of the Pfizer two-shot vaccine.

Those who couldn't attend last weekend are now being given a second chance with the announcement that walk-in vaccination centres will be open once again this weekend in Cork.

Anyone aged over 16 who has not received a first shot of the vaccine can avail of the centres.

"We are thrilled to offer additional walk-in clinics for first dose vaccines to the people of Cork and Kerry this coming weekend," said Priscilla Lynch, Acting Chief Officer, Cork Kerry Community Healthcare. "We experienced such a high volume of people from all age groups presenting to our centres last weekend for their vaccine. This demand surpassed all expectations and we are extremely grateful to our staff in making these clinics such a success."

"It’s encouraging for all our staff and volunteers to witness the success of their hard work at our walk-in Clinics," said Sinead Horgan, Assistant Director of Nursing, South/South West Hospital Group. "We have made it more accessible for people, we’ve given them an opportunity to arrive for their vaccine at a time that suits them."

To avail of the vaccine at the walk-in centres you must be over 16 and present photo ID and a PPS number. If you are aged 16-17 and do not possess any form of photo ID you can present your birth certificate.

•    City Hall, Cork City - 10.00am to 4.00pm
