Gardaí have reiterated their appeal for information regarding the murder of a pensioner in Fairview.

The murdered man has now been named as Charles McCaughey, a pensioner from Donaghmede who was known as "Ollie" to his friends.

At approximately 11pm on the night of June 7th, McCaughey was making his way home along Fairview Strand in Dublin 3. He was attacked and left for dead by a gang. Locals later found McCaughey lying unconscious and called the guards.

McCaughey was immediately brought to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious head injuries. He remained in a coma until his passing on June 26th.
