Jamie Lynn Spears faces death threats after breaking silence on sister's conservatorship

After speaking out in support of her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears has reported that she and her family have started receiving death threats from fans.

Late last month pop icon Britney Spears made a rare public appearance in a California court hearing asking a judge to end her father's conservatorship over her. Spears has petitioned to end the conservatorship several times since it's enactment over a decade ago, but to no avail.

After her most recent hearing in June, public support for Spears soared under the hashtag #FreeBritney. After hearing the dark details of her conservatorship, many fans questioned why her family members, including her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, had done nothing to support the pop star.

Since the hearing Jamie Lynn has taken to social media to express her support for her older sister, saying, "I supported my sister long before there was a hashtag and I will support her long after."

"The only reason I haven't [spoken out] before is because I felt like until my sister was able to spear for herself and say what she needed to say publicly that it wasn't my place and it wasn't the right thing to do," she added.

After speaking out, however, Jamie Lynn has reported that she and her family have started receiving a slew of death threats from fans.

"Hi, I respect that everyone has the right to express themselves, but can we please stop with the death threats, especially the death threats to children," she posted on her Instagram story in response to the online hate messages, suggesting that her children, aged 13 and 3, have also been subjected to the threats.

Jamie Lynn's social media post comes just days after talk show host Wendy Williams slated the former child star on national television saying "death to all of them" in reference to Jamie Lynn and her parents.

While it remains unclear how many, if any, of these threats are genuine, Jamie Lynn has nonetheless responded to them in a series of Instagram videos describing her stance on her sister's ongoing conservatorship.

"Since the day I was born, I've only loved adored and supported my sister. I mean this is my freaking big sister, before any of this bullsh*t. I don't care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has done so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way."

"This situation does not affect me either way, because I'm only her sister who's only concerned about her happiness. Maybe I didn't support the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform but I can assure you that I support my sister long before there was a hashtag and I'll support her long after."

"If ending the conservatorship and flying to Mars or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that 100% because I support my sister; I love my sister. Always have, always will. As long as she's happy. So let's keep praying. That's all."
