Global communications company Poly is set to open a new centre of excellence in Galway.

Over 200 jobs are expected to be created at the centre over the next five years.

Poly has 65 offices around the world which will be serviced by the Galway centre, the company's first in Ireland. It employs over 8,000 people around the world.

The centre will house Poly’s main Research & Development laboratory in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Poly expects to open the centre in November and is currently viewing office spaces in Galway.

With the increase in employees working from home, demand has soared for Poly's range of audio/video communications products.

"Poly always has been a trailblazer and opening up an office in Galway is part of our transformation journey," said Gloria Loredo, Poly's Chief Transformation Officer. "We believe that this strategic move will enable us to maximise our business performance to better serve customers, leverage the existing technology talent pool in Ireland to fill critical roles, and support our company’s growth."

The news was welcomed by CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan.

"Poly’s decision to locate its EMEA Centre of Excellence in Galway is a significant addition to the West region’s vibrant tech cluster and testament to the region’s highly skilled and talented workforce," he said. "The 200 highly skilled jobs being created will be a considerable boost to the region’s economy."
