Anne Robinson has quit "Countdown" just a year into hosting the show.

The 77 year old told her bosses at Channel 4 last Friday that she would be leaving.  Anne has recorded 265 episodes of the show and says she hopes her stint will make TV bosses realize that not women at the wrong end of their 70's are in "care homes playing bingo".

She added how she stayed longer than she had signed up for but wants to step back now.

Anne, who used to host "The Weakest Link" took over from Nick Hewer from "The Apprentice" last year.
