Aretha Franklin's Granddaughter's American Idol Hopes Fall At Audition Hurdle

Aretha Franklin's granddaughter Grace was rejected from American Idol. She auditioned for the show last month.

For her audition, 15 year old Grace Franklin performed Roberta Flack's 'Killing Me Softly' in the style of Fugees' iconic cover. 

“I feel like people expect me to sing exactly like her, but I am my own artist and I have my own voice", Grace told the judges before the audition.

However, Franklin's performance was described by Katy Perry as "soft", while Luke Bryan added that the performance was “was all just a little sleepy and subdued to me".  

Grace Franklin then performed his grandmother's track 'Ain't No Way". However, her attempts to make it past the auditions were unsuccessful.
