Bounty bars are to be removed from its Celebrations chocolate tubs, as part of its pre-Christmas trial, according to Mars Wrigley.

This was part of a survey taken by Mars Wrigley of 2000 Britons, between the aged of 18 and 65.

Along with 39% wanting the bars gone for good, 28% said that coconut had no business being in a chocolate bar at all.

The report also suggested that 18% were irritated that only one Bounty Bar would be left in the tub, with 58% stating that it may lead to a family argument.

Mars Wrigley confirmed that several Christmas Market sites will allow customers to exchange Celebrations tubs which were bought in store that day, for a "No Bounty" tub until December 18.

Instead, customers will be provided with boxes containing additional Snickers, Milky Way, Mars, Maltesers and Galaxy, to make up for these missing Bounty Bars.

Mars Wrigley have insisted that a final decision has not been made, as 18% of the public named Bounty Bars as their favourite. While 38% of over 55s named it their ideal bar of choice.

“Last year, we gave customers the opportunity to return their unwanted Bounty chocolates. Now, off the back of public demand, we’re trialling taking them out of the tub altogether", Celebrations' senior brand manager Emily Owens said.

“You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. And to those loyal – and secret – Bounty lovers out there, there’s still a chance they’ll make a return after the trial".

This experiment begins on November 8 in Baguely Extra in Manchester, covering over 40 different Tesco stores across the UK, ending at London's Gallions Reach Extra on December 18.
