Born in Detroit, Diana Ross is renowned for her role in the 1960s group, the Supremes, along with her hugely successful career as a solo star.

In 2012, Ross was awarded The Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. Diana Ross received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest honour awarded to a US citizen. While the Kennedy Center Honours celebrated her career in music, TV, theatre, along with her humanitarian work and contributions to American culture in 2007.
