A brand new, two part documentary on Johnny Depp's defamation trial against his ex wife Amber Heard is to be released later this month.

The documetary titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial will be released on September 19 via Discovery+.

It will feature interviews from Johnny Depp's lawyers, legal experts and journalist, along with behind-the-scenes footage of the trial, which was held between April and June of this year.

“The series gives a forensic account of the key evidence and turning points of the case from both sides, allowing viewers to make up their own minds about who to believe", a synopsis for the documentary said.

It has been reported that the first of two episodes of this two part documentary is to show Johnny Depp's side of events, including his “abusive childhood and drug dependencies”. This is to present “an alternative version of events that show Johnny to be a victim of domestic abuse himself”.

The second episode is to show Amber Heard's side of the story, and “her detailed description of alleged sexual assault told on camera for the first time” and how  “advocates of Depp mercilessly attacked her via social media".

Eventually, the courts found in favour of Johnny Depp, who had sued Ms Heard over an article published in the Washington Post in 2018, which alleged that he had sexually and physically abused her during their marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2015, before divorcing in 2017.
