Kylie Minogue has said that she felt "quite a lot of pressure to come back" to Neighbours for the show's finale in August.

Back in March, it had been confirmed that Neighbours would be ending, having failed to find an alternative broadcaster, after Channel Five had withdrawn its funding.

It had emerged that Kylie Minogue would return for the show's finale, reprising her role as Charlene, which she previously played between 1986 and 1988.

Speaking recently, the singer had claimed that there had been "quite a lot of pressure" for her to come back to the soap.

“I got this role in Neighbours in 1986… There was quite a bit of pressure for me to come back, so I shot my scenes back in Australia", Minogue said the Late Night With Seth Meyers Show.

Following her stint in Neighbours, Minogue subsequently enjoyed a hugely successful career as a singer, a fact which she owes an exceeding deal of credit to Neighbours with, saying that it played “a large part of how [she] entered the music industry".

“England just went crazy about [Neighbours], so it’s been with me ever since…You know, you’re in people’s households [and] the show was played twice a day", Minogue revealed.

Along with her onscreen husband Jason Donovan who played Scott, Minogue will also star in the final alongside Guy Pearce, who played troubled teenager Mike Young on the soap.

“[Guy Pearce] was also on the show. He’s just filmed his little return as well. We’re all going to cry", the singer revealed.
