U2 are coming to Netflix. Rumours are swirling that the Dublin lads are set to have a new Netflix show based around the band and their music.

It’s been reported that J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions is reportedly developing a scripted Netflix series about U2. The show is set to be written by  Anthony McCarten, who penned the 2018 Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the story, U2 are "expected to be involved and sanction" the as-yet-untitled project. The show is set to be part of Bad Robot’s overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
 Representatives for Netflix, Warners and Bad Robot have so far declined to comment. Much of the details behind the show are being kept under wraps.

Abrams and his Bad Robot banner, that he runs with partner Katie McGrath, is also behind HBO Max’s DC Comics-based Justice League Dark franchise, which features shows including Constantine and Madame X.

U2 — fronted by Bono, lead guitarist the Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. — was formed in 1976 out of Dublin, Ireland, and have released 14 studio albums.

They issued their latest record, Songs of Experience, in 2017. That same year, they launched a tour marking the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed album The Joshua Tree; the band revived the trek in late 2019 for a run in Oceania and Asia, wrapping in mid-December that year.
