The host for the 2022 BAFTAS ceremony, Rebel Wilson began the evening by giving the middle finger to Russian president Vladimir Putin as the country continues to invade Ukraine.

Following the invasion, so many names from the world of showbusiness have been showing their support for Ukraine and its people.

During the ceremony, Rebel Wilson discussed how singer Emilia Jones' musical performance would be aided by two sign language interpreters.

It was at this point that Wilson showed a gesture which let's just say did not require an interpreter. “And in all sign languages, this is the gesture for Putin", Wilson said before showing the middle finger to the camera, which was blurred out by the BBC.

Previous to this, the BAFTA's chariman Krishnendu Majumbar gave this speech in support of Ukraine.

“Together with our colleagues at the Ukrainian Film Academy, we stand in solidarity and hope for a return to peace", Majumbar said.

“We’re hugely grateful to the journalists covering Ukraine, many of whom are BAFTA members. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine as well as those affected by other conflicts around the world".
