76-year-old Rod Stewart and his 41-year-old son Sean have pleaded guilty to battery in an assault case.

The case relates to an incident involving a security guard at a Florida hotel on December 31st, 2019.

The confrontation occurred when Rod and Sean arrived at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach for a New Year's Eve party. When they tried to enter their children to a children's area of the hotel they were stopped by security guard Jessie Dixon.

Witnesses described seeing Sean push Dixon before Rod punched him in the ribs. Rod is said to have mocked the security guard with Nazi salutes.

"No one was injured in the incident and a jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the accusation," said the Stewarts' lawyer Guy Fronstin. "Instead, Sir Rod Stewart decided to enter a plea to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high-profile proceeding would cause."

The plea agreement means that Rod and Sean will avoid a court trial.

Fronstin confirmed that neither of his clients will have to serve any prison time or pay any fines, nor will they be placed on probation.

A spokesperson for Palm Beach state attorney Dave Aronberg said that Dixon is content with the outcome.
