Sting has said the days of playing private gigs for Russian billionaires are over and he is being supported by the rest of the music industry.

He had played at Said Gutseriev's wedding alongside Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez.  A second celebration was held in London's Dorchester Hotel with 250 guests and performances from Lionel Richie, Robbie Williams, Pink and Kylie.  Said is the son of Mikhail Gutseriev, who has since been sanctioned by the European Union for his ties to the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.

Gutseriev, a former oil bureaucrat in the Soviet Union, made his fortune after the collapse of the Soviet Union when he obtained former state assets at knockdown prices amid privatization.
