Top Gun: Maverick smashed Box Office records on the first weekend of the film's release.

It has emerged that the film has already accrued $248 million globally, since it was released last Friday. $151 million of these takens were from the US alone.

Top Gun: Maverick was also screened at a record breaking 4,732 cinemas over the weekend. Along with being the first Cruise film to surpass the $100 million mark on the opening weekend, it is the highest grossing non-superhero film since the pandemic.

As grossing goes, the movie sits behind Superman: No Way Home ($206 million), Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness ($148 million), and the Batman ($106 million).

The film itself sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell in a sequel to the 1986 classic.
