Tuesday, 23 April 2019 - 25 minutes
The show returned after the long weekend on Tuesday afternoon, with Niall Boylan bringing up the topic of petty crimes. Irish Prison Service data for 2017 shows that 95% of women who were incarcerated received sentences for crimes such as shoplifting or handling stolen goods. Niall asked - Should people be sent to prison at all for petty crimes?
Niall then spoke to one listener whose family member steals to feed her habit and has mental health issues. The listener said her family member needs help and feels better when she is actually in prison getting some sort of help.
