Irish blogger Sarah Hanrahan (@icomeundone) has used her various social media platforms to make people aware that the shortest flight in Ireland, which takes approximately 10 minutes from Connemara to Inis Meáin.
The flight only carries 8 passengers at a time, which means it also waits for people who are running late.
The plane's company Aer Arann which covers all flights to and from Inis Meáin, Inis Óirr, and Inis Mór for over three decades, takes 6 minutes between take off and landing, with adult tickets costing €35, while residents on the island paying €20 for the privilege.
“My parents live in Inis Meáin – which is the middle island of the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway”, Hanrahan said. “I fly over when I go to visit them. When I share it on my Instagram, I get lots of questions. So, I thought I’d elaborate here”.
“This is the airport. No one ever believes this part. This is me getting weighed with my dog”.
“My dog comes with me. He sits on my lap and they need to even out the weight on the flight so it doesn’t… I don’t know, fall out of the sky…”
“It’s an eight-seater plane and the flight takes six minutes. Someone has to sit beside the pilot to even out the weight”.

Sarah quickly reassured fans, “My dad tells me they used to shout your weight out loud but thankfully now they’re a bit more discreet”.
