The RNLI launched into action around 4pm yesterday when they received an urgent call that the fishing vessel had started to take on water.
The Austin Lidbury lifeboat and the Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115 were sent out on the rescue mission.
The RNLI were able to pull their lifeboat alongside the fishing vessel, the crew then boarded the fishing boat and were able to use salvage pump equipment to remove water from the sinking boat.
The fishing crew were able to disembark onto a lifeboat where they were escorted back to shore.
According to a statement from the RNLI;
"During the transfer of the salvage pump, one of the fishing crew slipped and sustained an injury.
"The incident was relayed to Ballycotton Coastguard, who were standing by at Ballycotton Pier,"
"They contacted the local emergency services, and an ambulance was dispatched to meet the vessel on its return.
"The casualty vessel and RNLI lifeboat returned to Ballycotton Harbour at 5.25pm."
The crew members of the RNLI lifeboat have been praised for their efficiency and quick action by both members of the public and Ballycotton RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Andy Brown.
