A woman in her 30s, who suffered a "catastrophic" brain injury after being involved in a road traffic collision in Dublin, has died in hospital.

37 year old, Danielle O'Keane, a mother of two children, was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, after suffering serious injuries in a horrific crash on the North Wall Key, Dublin at approximately 11pm on Sunday night last.

It was also reported that Danielle, who is from Newry, had been travelling to Dublin City Centre after seeing Irish boyband, Westlife in the 3Arena, when the rickshaw she was travelling in, struck a curb.

Having spent a number of days in hospital, Daniella sadly passed away on Thursday (October 1). She had been in ICU on a ventilator, and it was reported in the Irish Mirror that she had suffered a "life ending brain injury".

Her death notice per Funeral Times reads: “O’ Keane (nee Mullan) (Saval, Newry) died 1 October 2026 as the result of an accident".

“Danielle R.I.P. Much loved wife of Dave and dear mother of Caolán and Cillian. Beloved daughter of Michael and Pauline, and dear sister of Barry and her twin Sean. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul".

"Funeral arrangements later. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, children, parents, brothers, sisters in law, brothers in law, mother in law Dolores, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family circle and friends". (All quotes according to the Irish Mirror).
