This comes as the Oireachtas Committee had already heard that the former Late Late Show presenter was due to receive a €120,000 loyalty bonus at the end of his contract, which was not paid. This contract had run from 2015 to 2020.

Mr Tubridy also told the committee that he waived his entitlement to the payment, due to the manner in which RTÉ reported the the payment. The narrative made it look that that he had taken the money and hidden, something which he insists is not true.

In a statement, the RTÉ board have said that this latest Grant Thornton report will be the subject of detailed consideration by both the board, and its audit and risk committee.

When asked about the publish date for this report, RTÉ spokesperson said that "the process is ongoing".

Ryan Tubridy's future with the national broadcaster remains in doubt, having been off air since the payments scandal broke in June, where they admitted it had underdeclared payments made to the presenter of  €345,000 from 2017 to 2022.

RTÉ have been embroiled in an ongoing scandal, in light of three €75,000 payments made to Mr Tubridy for public appearances he made for Renault, as part of an agreement between the broadcaster and the sponsor.

The broadcaster have also been under heavy scrutiny, over their decision to underwrite these payments, meaning that they agreed to fund these costs.
