A popular Galway restaurant has announced the return of its 'Kids Eat Free' initiative for the entire month of November.
The Michelin-starred restaurant, Aniar, has announced the return of this popular initiative, allowing children between the ages of 7 and 15 years old to enjoy the restaurant’s 12 course Young Diner's Tasting Menu at no extra cost, when they are accompanied by a paying adult.
Aniar is known for its emphasis on wild, foraged and seasonal ingredients from the west coast or Ireland. The November menu also shows the autumn's harvest, including wild game and seaweed gathered from the Galway coastline. It is located on Dominick Street.
According to the restaurant's Owner and Chef patron, Jp McMahon, this initiative seeks to make high end gastronomy accessible to younger generations, while at the same time, introducing them to locally source produce.
The promotion runs from 1st to 30th November, and is part of Galway's annual, Blas na Samhna food festival, having proved hugely popular with families across the county last year.
"We were blown away by the response last year," McMahon said. "Watching a young diner try something for the very first time—a piece of seaweed or a cured fish—and watching their eyes light up is exactly why we do this. Food education doesn’t only happen in a classroom. Sitting down together, sharing a meal, and talking about where the ingredients come from is one of the best lessons there is". (All quotes according to Galway Beo).
'Kids Eat Free' requires one full paying adult per child, and the restaurant have said that advance booking is recommended due to limited availability.
