A man in his 60s has died in a single-vehicle collision in Co Galway.
The accident happened at around 10:30pm last night on a local road in Balckacre, Tuam.
The driver was found unresponsive at the scene by emergency services before being brought to University Hospital Galway where he was later dead.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána released a statement confirming details of the incident.
"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic incident in Tuam, Co. Galway, on Friday, 16th May 2025.
"Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a single vehicle on a local road in Blackacre, Tuam."
Gardaí say that the road is closed to allow for forensic examiners to analyse the scene, and that local diversions are in place.
A post-mortem exam is due to take place at a later date.
The statement continued: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have any information regarding the incident to come forward.
"Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings from the area at the time, are urged to share this material with Gardaí."
Gardaí are also appealing to the public for any information on the circumstances that may have led to the accident.
