Off The Square, a popular restaurant in Galway is has closed its doors for the last time after 27 years in business.
The eatery closed up earlier this month, having been at the heart of the popular seaside town for nearly three decades.
“We wish the next custodians every success and hope the place brings them as much happiness as it brought us", the owner said, per The Irish Sun. “Until we pop up again, It has been a pleasure to serve you".
It was announced that Off The Square was to close its doors in August, with a number of loyal customers wishing the owners, PJ and Maureen all the best in their retirement.
“Throughout our 27 wonderful years, we have been truly fortunate to have had incredible staff, both past and present, we are grateful for their hard work and dedication over the years", PJ and Maureen said. “We would like to make a special mention to Marina and Rory, who both sadly passed away in recent years. Their contribution to our restaurant and its success will always be remembered.
“We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our friends and customers, from both near and far, who have been with us throughout the years.
“Without your loyalty, friendship and continued support, we simply would not have the business we have today. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you", they added. “We would like to acknowledge the immense contribution and sacrifice our family have put in over the years".
In light of their announcement, loyal customers took to Facebook to wish the owners all the best in their retirement.
“Best of luck to you all. Have eaten there every summer for the last 25 years", one fan wrote. “Never left dissatisfied and never left hungry".
Another added: “Best of luck in your next adventure! Thank you for all the wonderful meals especially the brekkies! You will be missed".
“My grandkids loved going into ye for your fab food and making them feel special like ye did with all kids that ye served", another wrote.
“Best of luck for your future. Always my favourite place in Clifden for breakfast, never missed it when down", another said. “Thanks for the great food and memories over the years".
