Currently the national average is 372.6 cases per 100,000 people.

Galway City Centre has an incident rate almost three times the national average with 1,064.

Also well above the national average are Connemara South at 745, Galway City East at 703, Galway City West at 568, Tuam at 485, and Ballinasloe at 448. Just above the average are Connemara North at 378 and Athenry-Oranmore at 375.

The only area of Galway significantly below the national average is Gort-Kinvara with an incident rate of 285.

The new figures come as University Hospital Galway continues to have more confirmed cases of COVID-19 than any other hospital in the country. The hospital also has the highest number of patients in ICU.

As of Thursday evening there were 19 confirmed cases at UHG, five of which were in ICU. Four other patients are suspected to have the virus but are awaiting confirmation via test results.

The nationwide total of hospital patients confirmed to have COVID-19 currently stands at 182.
