The funeral for a mother of three who was described as "one in a million" by her "heartbroken" family, will take place this Saturday.
This comes after 44 year old Elizabeth Lynch died after a trench being excavated at the site in Kilmeedy, west Limerick last Friday had collapsed. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, with the Health and Safety Authority confirming that they will investigate this tragic death.
“The Health and Safety Authority is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further information is available at this time", a spokesperson said.
Reports in the Irish Sun have said that Ms Lynch was assisting in the construction of a house where her brother was working. Sadly, he also lost his life in the same incident.
Elizabeth Lynch was known as a keen sportswoman, who coached and played Gaelic football and soccer, who "made time for everyone".
“Liz will be very sadly missed by her heartbroken family; her adored sons Kauan, Jaycob and Victor, their father Marcos, her heartbroken father Tim, mother Betty, sister Mary, brother Michael Snr., sister-in-law Caroline, Timothy Jnr’s partner Catriona, niece Kate, nephews Michael Jnr. and James, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, her many teammates and clubs over the years, neighbours and many friends", a death notice read.
Elizabeth's family have confirmed that she will repose at her parents' home in Feenagh on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Her funeral mass will take place at St Ita's Church in Feenagh at 12.30pm on Saturday, burial afterwards in Feenagh Cemetary.
Local GAA club, Monagea Ladies, who Elizabeth Lynch was a respected member of, have suspended all club activity over the weekend as a mark of respect.
“Liz was our friend, and a much-loved part of the Monagea family", they said. “Our hearts are broken for her lovely boys, her family, and the huge circle of friends who loved her".
“We will miss Liz more than words can say and will never forget the kind, caring, strong and wonderfully funny woman she was".
“Thank you for all the memories, the laughs and the moments shared with us. You will always have a special place in our hearts".

Elizabeth Lynch was also a renowned coach with Newcastle West FC, including their under 16s and under 19s girls teams. They also paid a moving tribute to her.
“Liz started coaching with us back in 2020, coached numerous age groups and was influential in developing our female age groups in particular.
“Up to last season, Liz coached the U16’s and U19 girl’s teams", they added. “Liz’s beautiful, kind and vibrant personality always shone through where ever she was based in the Club, be it training, a match or volunteering.
“Our deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to her three beloved sons, Kauan, Jaycob, Victor, Parents Tim and Betty, sister Mary, Brother Michael Senior and all her family and friends at this immensely sad time".
A spokesperson also said that Elizabeth's “presence and dedication” to the football club and will be “sorely missed” by everyone who knew her.
Several mourners also paid a sweet tribute to Elizabeth Lynch, who was hailed as a "great friend", and "amazing worker".
“She was an amazing worker, a great friend, a great love for sport. She was a pleasure to meet and always had a smile on her face. Liz will be sadly missed and will never be forgotten", one wrote.
Another added: “Words cannot express how devastated we are to hear of Liz’s passing. A dear friend through the years. A helping hand, a kind ear, a loving smile for all that knew her. She was one in a million".
Another person said: “Heartbroken for all Liz’s family. Her beautiful boys, parents, brother, sister and all her family. Also all her teammates, friends and clubs. Deepest sympathies to all".
