A man in his 40s has died following a road traffic incident involving a bicycle in Limerick on Tuesday afternoon.
Gardaí said the incident occurred shortly after 2pm on the Dublin Road in Mountshannon. According to a Garda spokesperson, the cyclist left the scene and travelled to a nearby residence following the incident.
“A male cyclist, aged in his 40s, left the scene and travelled to a domestic residence,” the spokesperson said.
Emergency services attended the scene and provided medical treatment to the man. However, he was later pronounced dead on Tuesday afternoon.
“The male cyclist received treatment by emergency services. He was pronounced deceased during the afternoon of Tuesday, May 26,” the Garda spokesperson added.
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward as investigations continue.
“Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Dublin Road, Mountshannon, Limerick city between 1.30pm and 2.10pm on Tuesday, May 26 are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí,” the spokesperson said.
