Streets like Main Street and New Street are heavily affected, with several shops underwater as emergency crews rush to pump out the floodwaters.

The town, which has been prone to flooding in recent years, is once again facing major disruption.

Between 2018 and 2020, Bantry experienced four floods, and a flood relief scheme is currently being planned to address these recurring issues.

The Status Orange warning remains in place for Cork, Kerry, and Waterford until midnight, with Met Éireann predicting persistent, heavy rainfall, particularly in mountainous areas of West Cork and Kerry.

There is a heightened risk of river and coastal flooding, with Cork County Council warning that tributaries of the River Lee could overflow, causing further localized flooding and travel challenges.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow warning is in place for counties Clare, Limerick, Galway and Mayo for the remainder of the day, with Met Éireann warning of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
