Two Grandparents & Three Year Old Grandson Dead In Co Tipperary Road Crash

The three people which included two grandparents and their 3 year old grandson, were rear seat passengers in a car which collided with a wall along the Windmill Knockbulloge area in Cashel around 9pm last night.

The little boy's body was removed to Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel, while the grandparents, a man and women in their 40s, were removed to University Hospital Waterford, where post-mortem examinations can take place.

The driver of the car, aged in his 20s, and a woman who was in the front passenger seat and also aged in her 20s, continue to be treated for serious injuries at Tipperary University Hospital.

Anyone with information has been encouraged to get in touch with Cahir Garda Station on 052 617 7640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station. 

Road users who were travelling in the WIndmill Knockbulloge area between 8.30pm and 9pm last night, and have camera footage, have also been asked to share this footage with Gardaí, who are investigating this incident.

Independent TD for the Premier county, Michael Lowry, has said that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families, "as they receive this devastating news".

This incident comes just days after the tragic road accident in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, which led to the deaths of Twenty four-year-old Luke McSweeney, his 18-year-old sister Grace McSweeney and Zoey Coffey and Nicole Murphy, both also 18, with the three teenagers having received their Leaving Cert results just hours beforehand.
